I’ve witnessed this type of ceremony in Canada. Perhaps other former British colonies have this practice also. It seems this might be a “tradition” inherited from the British Raj.:(
Yes, it is impressive spectacle. I have to wonder, however, what is its value besides a “tourist attraction”! What would a country loose if this ceremony is done away with?
Though I enjoyed watching this, I doubt I would miss much if it is discontinued.
