Virtual Reality and Empathy

In this TED presentation Chris Milk talks about his creation of a Virtual Reality Machine. It can help develop greater empathy in us and make us, using his term,”more human”. For me this is an innovative idea and I certainly hope he is right and wish him success in his pursuit.

I am, however,  not convinced that our society needs more “technical gadgets” to help us cultivate greater empathy. I believe if we faithfully practice the “truths” discovered by any of great religions we individually chose to follow, we would have adequate empathy.
